Center For Birth Midwives

Midwives Tina Tsiakalis and Wendy Gordon at Center for Birth Midwives believe pregnancy and childbirth should be a time of special care and support for women and their families. We believe in the power and amazing ability of women's bodies to nourish and give birth to their healthy babies. We offer complete prenatal care and bring our experience and guidance in one-to-one attendance during labor and birth at Center for Birth. We provide postpartum care for mother & baby in the first weeks, and support families through this transformative process. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, a birth center birth is a great option!

Linda Embrey, LMP

Linda Embrey, LMP, specializes in Deep Muscle Therapy, a firm, effective and gentle way to help you relaxe and soothe away general aches and pains of pregnancy. Deep body massage improves immune function simply by stimulating blood and lymph flow, loosening joints, and clearing waste products, which then enhances breathing, soothes the nervous system and relaxes the mind. The ability to relax is especially important during childbirth. Massage therapy is beneficial for developing a deeper sense of inner harmony and balance as the mother progresses through the natural stages of pregnancy and post-natal care.

Over her thirty year career Linda has had special training Mayan Abdominal Massage, as well as pregnancy, postpartum and infant massage. She also teaches pregnancy massage to partners. Housecalls and Gift Certificates are available.

To schedule, call Linda or schedule appointments online.

Rainy City Midwifery

At Rainy City Midwifery we believe that pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding are all normal but extraordinary events in the life of the family. As your midwives, we offer you leisurely appointments where your family and friends are welcome. We anticipate that you will have a healthy pregnancy (most women do!) and you will successfully navigate the transition from pregnancy to motherhood. With over 30 years of experience helping families during this incredible time, we can honestly tell you that the birth of your child is a strong, healing process you will never forget. We feel privileged to be part of this wonderful profession.

Beth Coyote, LM, CPM, and Lynn Hughes, LM are graduates of Seattle Midwifery School, a leading institution in training midwives for out of hospital birth (recently merged with Bastyr University). As Licensed Midwives in the State of Washington, we actively participate in Peer Review and Quality Management through the Midwives Association of Washington State (MAWS). Rainy City is a preceptor site for student midwives from Bastyr University.

Seattle Home Maternity Service

Seattle Home Maternity Service and Childbirth Center is the oldest established midwifery practice and birth center in Washington State. Our midwives attend births at home, in our licensed birth center in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood, and at Center For Birth. Since 1980, we have welcomed nearly 3000 babies.

Licensed Midwives Marge Mansfield and Suzy Myers, co-founders of Seattle Midwifery School, own and operate the Seattle Home Maternity Service and Childbirth Center and have worked together since their training in the mid-1970's. In 2006, Licensed Midwife Heather Chorley was welcomed into the practice and in 2010 Licensed Midwife Traci Palagi became part of the practice.

Our practice is dedicated to providing the highest quality midwifery care, with personal and individualized visits during pregnancy, labor and afterwards. Our services are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicaid.
